A full lace hair piece is also called a CRANIAL PROSTHESIS which is a DME (Durable Medical Equipment). The cranial prosthesis is a hair piece which the cap is constructed of a French lace material. This material is Ultra Sheer Lace and is virtually undetectable when placed against the skin. Stretch lace is a small section in the back part of the cap which is right below the crown but above the nape. This allows you to wear your hair in a high or low ponytail. The hair is knotted twice to give the illusion it is growing from your scalp. The full lace hair piece is designed to give a much more natural look to the front and back hairlines than any conventional wig.
The hair length is measured beginning from the crown to the longest hair in the back. They are made to look very natural. The hair length is a little bit shorter in the front and gradually goes into a "V" in the back. Just as an FYI. If your looking to wear your hair in a ponytail, I would select the hair length of 14 inch and more. Hair lengths under 14 inches limits your styling options. To help get an idea of where the hair lengths will place on you, please take a measuring tape and place it at the crown of your head and let it fall down the desired hair length. You can also turn it around and let fall down the front of your face past your nose. This will give you an idea of where the hair length will place in the front as well.
Indian Remy - Is the most reasonable priced and most popular. The quality is good but the Virgin hair is stronger and more durable. The difference is in the way the hair is harvested. Remy hair is called broom sweeped hair gathered together treated and colored. Virgin hair is harvested by pulling hair back into a ponytail and cut. Then hair is prepared and produced into a hair piece. With virgin hair your hair piece is primarily made from one single donor. Indian remy hair strands are thin, fine.
Indian Virgin - The hair strands are thin and fine. Natural coloring is a light chocolate brown with some natural black tones and a natural shine. Also, the hair has a natural wave which tends to be at bottom of the hair. Natural Wave will vary depending on the donor who donated.
Malaysian - The hair strands are a little bit thicker than the Indian hair and offers more fullness at less hair density. This is basically a straight hair with virtually no natural wave pattern. Malaysian hair has a natural shine and the natural coloring is a darker chocolate brown than the Indian.
Chinese - The hair strands are the thickest out of all the textures offered. This provides the most fullest at a low hair density and more hair texture. This hair has more of a duller finish than all of the textures. Also, the natural coloring is the darker chocolate brown as the Malaysian.
Brazilian - The hair strands are fine, thin like Indian Hair. Natural hair color is the darkest of all the hair textures offerd. Has more natural black tones. Basically a straight hair with very little to no natural wave patterns and has a natural shine to the hair.
In my opinion, I would not recommended bleach knots because it actually weakens the knots and causes the hair to shed. However, I would only recommend bleaching the front hairline knots if the hair color is darker than the lace color. Example: Black hair color with skin tone or beige lace color.
I would recommend freestyle parting because this allows you to part hair in any direction.
1. Scratching the lace - Your nails will cut hair right off the lace.
2. Not washing or properly washing the wig. Hair product and dirt build up causes the hair piece to shed.
3. Not wearing a satin scarf while sleeping
4. Wearing certain types of fabric such as wool can grab a hold of individual strands of hair and pulled it out.
1. Wash and Condition once a week.
2. While hair is wet, apply Moose (Suave for Curly Hair) and use a Vent Brush to even comb through.
3. Pull hair back in a clip and allow to dry very STILL or Scrunch with hand and use dryer on cool with diffuser until 70% to 80% of hair is dry and just leave it. Please do not finger comb hair while hair is drying. If you finger comb hair while hair is drying, the hair will dry very BIG and WILD and begin to tangle very easily.
At Night TWO-Strand twist your hair and cover with a SATIN Sleep scarf.
The next day, finger comb hair lightly. Combing the waves out will make the hair Big and fluffy. Curly hair is more maintenance and requires additional care. Please do not spray Oil Sheen, Jerri Curl Activator, Hair Spray onto the hair. These products will coat the hair and the hair will begin to tangle easily or shed.
Use hair products for Caucasian hair. Keep oily products away from the hair knots. Comb hair completely through.. (Hint: Part hair into at least four sections and braid. Especially for Wavy and Curly Wigs. Makes it easy to comb hair out when wet.) Wash the inside of the cap with dish detergent to remove all oils and dirt. If the cap is not clean, it will affect the way the adhesive may stick. Rinse cap. Next, place a small amount of shampoo on the hair, then rinse thoroughly. Do not vigorously wash the hair because this will cause the hair to come on the inside of the cap and hair to tangle.
Place lace piece on Styrofoam head and put a generous amount of conditioner in hand and apply to lace piece. Start from the bottom and use your vent brush and gently comb through hair with conditioner on it. Wait about 10 minutes and rinse out all conditioner especially from the lace cap. If conditioner is not rinsed thoroughly from the cap, the adhesive may not stick.
How to deep condition lace piece: Take lace piece with conditioner on it and (Caution: PLEASE REMOVE any metal combs prior to placing in microwave.) put hair in zip lock bag and put in microwave for 30 SECONDS. Remove hair from bag once bag has cooled down and use a VENT BRUSH and gentle comb through hair prior to rinsing hair.
Lay lace piece unit on towel and pat dry. Then place on Styrofoam head to gently comb through with big tooth comb. (Please never comb lace piece unit while holding it in your hand, this can cause the lace to rip.) At this time you can do a wet roller set or simply let dry under a hooded dryer set on low for about 30 minutes than finish drying naturally over night.
(Hint: Please do not twist or ring out lace piece.) If time won’t allow you to air dry your lace piece , use a blow dryer on the lowest setting to dry because higher settings will dry out hair prematurely. (Hint: Always wrap hair when sleeping and NEVER go to bed with WET hair.
